How to set up a scratch dish

1. Open up final cut pro go to file and click new project

2. Then you will go to final cut pro and click on system Settings

3.Setting the night disk that you want the project to go to HD2 or  SAVE HERE

4. click on make a new folder 

5. Put your folders in here 

6. Then save project

7.Save into your own folder the one you created at the start

8.Import files and then they need to go into the same folder.

9. you have to copy it all to one folder then put it on your memory card. (it always need to be in the same folder so you can move your footage and projects to a usb.

10. you will go to file then select files close project (this is very important)

UNIT:22:3 (Evaluation Short Film)

Evaluation

Livia has set an assignment which had been completed in groups of three; I worked with Alex and Geff, we had to make a short film on anything we could come up with. I really enjoyed this project it was fun, interesting and exciting because we had to come up with an idea which we could bass our story on and I am very creative when it come to making u story line.

Right this is were my imagination takes place. My story is about a girl who has been in a relationship with her boyfriend for over a year and has got some important new which she has to share with him. They walk to college and they are in the same class together. When Alex try’s to talk to boyfriend Geff he doesn’t pay her any attention. She continues to try and get his attention but doesn’t work his either listening to music, talking to someone or his phone rings. Eventually she gets really mad and shouts the news out in front of everyone in the class and runs out. Geff is very shocked and don’t know what to do, his got a lot of thinking to do so he left his phone in college and walked out.

I think that my storyline is original because my storyline is based on reality nowadays girls are getting pregnant like everyday. I feel that my storyline was interesting because the characters I picked to play the roles played it very well and also made it look funny and everyone enjoyed watching it. I also believe my short film was suitable for the assignment brief because we had to have to people playing the characters; we had to have a subject which we could set it on and I picked; girl being pregnant with her boyfriend. I might be able to improve this assignment if I had to do it again I think I would use a better camera for example canon 500, have more steady shots and also don’t make the film as long as it was make it about a minute and 30 seconds.

Well when I started to plan my short film I had to make a storyboard so it gave me a brief of what I wanted in each scene, where I wanted to film each footage and how I wanted each camera angles. I feel that I could have improved my planning a bit better because I didn’t have a lot of time and I wasn’t in college for like a week so it was all rushed at the last minute.

In this assignment I played five roles producer, script writer, director, camera person and the editor. In each role it was very frustrating because you can’t be in five different places at the same time. Also where it was a last minute thing I had so much stress on me because I had to find people to do the acting, get the equipment, made sure everything was working well and how I imagined it would turn out to be like. I feel that I did the directing very well, script writing went well as well because I’ m very creative when it come to an assignment like making up your own story’s and also the editing because I’m very creative and love making up the story as I go along for example add sound effects, normally effects cut and paste and putting all the footage into one so I can make up the final story.

I think I picked just the right people to work with in this project because they played the part just right they worked very well together and with me for example I didn’t really have a story line by the time we started to film so they worked with me to create a story so that we could crack on. I worked with Alex and Geff, the story line was good because you would have never expected to see them to in a relationship or even having sex but you never know what life can bring to you.

I loved the finish footage of my short film; it was just amazing in just short amount of time to produce what we did in the matter of two hours. People in my class loved my short film it made everyone laugh and made everyone watch it over and over again because they really enjoyed watching it. I was very pleased because I got a lot of good feed back for example saying ‘keep up the good work, it was very funny, entertaining and interesting’ I got one bad feedback saying ‘have more steady footage’ if I was to do this project again all I would do to improve it is have more time to plan it and don’t leave it to the end so you are confused and don’t know how, what, when, who.

Unit 30:2:4(Evaluation For My Advert)

Evaluation For My Advert 

I have been set an assignment to complete, I had to get into a group of there and come up with an idea which we could make an advert based about. We had to come up with two different ideas each so by the end of it we would have six ideas to pick from then we all had to do a story board each. We put all of our ideas into one and that’s how we got our final story for our advert.

As a group we decided to make an advert on advertising a I Pod Nano. In our advert we started it of to be in a waiting room with a girl, and a boy walks in while he is listening to his music. He sits down flickering through the I Pod, he picks a song to listen to once the beat starts to drop his starts tapping his foot, fingers, head his a bit excited and starts dancing on the chair then slowly gets up and starts dancing in the waiting room his listening to pretty women. The girls say’s Excuses me but his got both headphones in and cant hear her talking, she tried so many times to get his attention then she gets up and taps him on his shoulder he takes the headphones and then she says Are you feeling alright then he shows her the I Pod with a slogan – I Pod Nano so good, you cant help yourself then the apple logo appears on the screen.

If we was to compare our advert to a professional adverts I don’t know how we would can compare it because its crazy, they have got experience to make adverts which this is our first time in coming up with an idea and making a footage our of it to make an advert for advertising our product. The only way that I can compare our advert with a professional advert is that its 30 seconds long and also we are both trying to sell our products. The difference is we use different techniques, ideas and equipment etc.  

The persuading techniques which we have used in our advert which might of help us sell our product is that we had a persuading slogan; I POD NANO SO GOOD YOU CAN’T HELP YOURSELF, also if you have got an I Pod Nano it don’t matter where you are you always want to sing alone or dance to the songs you are listening to.

I don’t really think that there is a target audience because everyone loves listening to music like I think from the ages 7+ can have an I Pod, there might be a target audience which I can I Pods like younger people don’t have money so there parents or older brothers, sisters can buy them, but they are not expensive so even if you went to college and saved up some money or started working you could buy an I Pod for your self.

We got good feed back from several people in our class everyone loved it they gave us some good point and bad points for example we should of used a better camera, lighting also they said we should of faded out the ending someone also said we should of showed more of the benefit of the I Pod Nano which is true. We haven’t taken none of the feed back offensive because this is the first time we have made an advert and it’s good to get feed back because we know what we can do differently next time. 

The things that went well within this project was me creating two mind maps with two different ideas and then making a storyboard with the best ideas and put it into one. Working within my group went well because we all knew what we had to do and got on with it and we met the deadline. Also I was very pleased within my group is we had three weeks to complete this assignment, which we had nothing but turned it into something for example we had to come up with six different ideas and then three storyboard into one idea and it was very fun and interesting. The aspect that I was very pleased within our project is that no one in my group have ever been asked to come up with an advert idea and produce an avert also I was very pleased with my group because it didn’t take us long to film the footage or edit it so at the end of it we achieved our advert.

The things that didn’t go so well, at the start it was just me and Alex working together we knew what we wanted our advert be about but then Izac joined our group and kept on trying to change our idea, once we come up with the mind maps and storyboard we wanted to get on with it and start filming but Izac wasn’t in so we had to find a different way around it, so we started to film but use a different character then half way through filming he turns up then we had to start it over and I just wanted to get the filming over with because we spent a lot of time on it but Izac just kept popping up with more ideas and it started to get boring. We also had problems with the equipment because the cameras we got didn’t work or either the battery died, we didn’t have a memory card and once we got it started we need a tri-pod but then the tri-pod was broken or we couldn’t connect the camera to it. Now we finished filming I went straight into the class to start the editing but it was stressful because we all got different roles but once it come down to it, I only got to cut and paste clips together because then Alex wanted to do the sound effects and editing then Izac wanted to do some of the editing so I let them got on with it. Once we finished the editing Sue said we had to edit the footage and make it lighter so that’s what they did while I started on my evaluation.

The things which I would do differently if this assignment got given to me again would be more organized get better equipment pick a different group for example who will always be in lesson apart from that everything went better than I thought.

In my own opinion I feel that our advert will be successful in selling our product because we have made it very clear which we are trying to sell an I Pod Nano and are slogan explains it all I Pod Nano, so good you cant help yourself, for example where ever your are you just want to dance and sing along to the songs you are listening to. I also think if we added more I Pod Nanos to our advert it would looked a bit better and more professional for our audience which they might think about buying our product.
                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                         

Overall I really enjoyed this assignment and if I got asked to do it again I would love it, it was very fun, interesting and exciting because we had to come up with different ideas and make it into an advert witch then we had to sell our product to the class.
